“Planning for Tomorrow- The Child with Special Needs”

Terrie O’Connor Realtors, Wyckoff office will be hosting a free seminar where the long term planning for special needs children will be discussed. Ray Falcon will be the guest speaker. Ray is a legal expert who offers guidance and advice on government benefits and thoughtful estate planning in order to assist families preserve benefit eligibility and guidance though the complexities of guardianship for special needs families. What does planning involve? It involves preserving your child’s financial security and quality of life. Key issues that will be discussed will be understanding the role of public benefits, making decisions about the future, providing for personal and financial protection, and using estate planning/trusts to protect assets.

The seminar will be held on Thursday, September 29th at the Terrie O’Connor Realtors Wyckoff office located at 395 Franklin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. The presentation will begin at 7:00 pm. Banta volunteers in Community

Megan Banta, Sales Associate in our Ridgewood Office volunteered last spring through Real Source to help build a local house. Real Source Association of Realtors Community Service Committee and “Rebuilding Together” help ed repair and renovate a local home. Over 300 volunteers came together on April 30 to work on homes from Moonachie to Ridgewood to Englewood. 75 Electricians from IBEW Local 164 donated time to make electrical repairs and safety improvements as well. Great work, Megan!

Terrie O’Connor Realtors Global Network Leads REAL Trends ‘Top 500′ Report

NORTHERN NEW JERSEY: According to the REAL Trends Top 500 Report recognizing the top real estate companies in the country, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World ® once again was named the highest producing network in terms of total sales for 2010 among this elite top 500 group of companies. Terrie O’Connor Realtors is the affiliate of LeadingRE in the Northern New Jersey area.

The 97 LeadingRE affiliate firms on the Top 500 list produced 551,832 sales “sides” in 2010 totaling sales volume of $142.4 billion, over 30 percent more transactions than the closest competitor, Coldwell-Banker, with 415,540 units and 60 firms on the list.

Leading RE produced more than twice as many sales as both Keller Williams (236,318 units) and RE/MAX (218,583 units), although both had more companies on the list, with 119 and 111 companies respectively.

Of the top 25 companies that made the list for 2010, 15 were LeadingRE members, three were Prudential, two were Coldwell-Banker and one each were Realty Executives, RE/MAX and Keller Williams. The remaining firms were non-affiliated independents.

The power of local branding was further emphasized with #1 market share rankings for the nation’s top 96 markets. In that portion of the study, LeadingRE members ranked first in the market in 40% of the cities, compared to 24% and 11% for the next two networks.

The Top 500 report was released last week at the REAL Trends “Fathering of the Eagles” annual conference. This third-party survey is widely recognized as the leading study of its kind.

The affiliates of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World ® produced total 2010 sales of 800,000 valued at $225 billion.

River Edge Woman Leaves Home and Estate to Charity

The former River Edge home of Ruth Leiman was just listed with Paula Royak of Terrie O’Connor Realtors, who says all of the proceeds from the home sale will be donated to charity. Ms. Leiman’s will directs that her home be sold and the net proceeds be distributed to the Christian Appalachain Project, the Native American Rights Fund and various other charities.

Terrie O’ Connor Realtors’ Sales Associate Paula Royak has been listing area homes for 34 years but feels this listing is different. “It’s special knowing that this home sale will have a positive impact in several communities and help many who need it.” Ms. Leiman had a good heart, says Royak, and in this economy, bequests like this are more important than ever for non-profit charities.

Terrie O’Connor Realtors Attends Global Real Estate Conference in Las Vegas

Terrie O’Connor Realtors recently attended the 2011 Leading Real Estate Companies of the World ® (Leading RE) conference at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The annual event attracted 800 top real estate brokers, managers, relocation professionals, sponsors and guests from the U.S. and eight countries around the world. Participating brokerages represented a significant share of the United States real estate market, with annual sales production of over $250 billion. The event’s sponsors included Grand Sponsor HGTV’s FrontDoor.com

The week-long series of four conferences in one boasted a noteworthy line-up of over 150 speakers from within the real estate industry. Keynote presentations included former White House Director of Economic Policy, Todd Bucholz.

Hundereds of LeadingRE Members participated in separate conferences. MarTech for marketing and technology managers, the Luxury Portfolio Top Sales Associate Summit, and the LeadingRE Sales Manager Leadership Symposium.

Terrie O’Connor Realtors Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

Terrie O’Connor Realtors recently celebrated their annual St. Patrick’s Day company party. All five offices were in the holiday spirit. “This was our 4th Annual St. Patty’s Day Party at the Knights of Columbus in Ramsey,” said Terrie O’Connor, President/Owner of Terrie O’Connor Realtors. “When we all get together we have such fun and I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful group of peopl to work with and to enjoy sharing some good old fashioned fun.” A special highlight of the evening was the entertainment. Performers from the well known and talented Irish Piper’s Band, “Clan Na Vale” based out of Oaklan, New Jersey, got the house rockin’.

New QR Code Campaign!

What are these bar codes that keep popping up in newspapers, postcards and magazines? QR Codes, Quick-Response Codes are two dimensional bar codes that contain information that can be read once scanned by a smartphone. Larger companies such as Lexus and Calvin Klein have been integrating QR codes into their marketing campaigns because it is such a great way to incorporate print advertising and online marketing. Terrie O’Connor Realtors is excited to be one of the first Real Estate companies in the area to launch this marketing channel as a part of their advertising.

How do you use a QR code? If you have an iPhone, Andriod or blackberry, simply adding a free Bar code Scanner and Reader application will give you access to all of the information these codes hold. Newer smartphones have QR code readers already built into them. For iPhones, try the “QR Code Reader and Scanner,” for Androids, use “bar code scanner” and for Blackberry users, try “ScanLife.” Newer Blackberries have a scan feature in Blackberry Messenger (BBM) already installed into the phone. Once you open the app, direct the camera at the QR code and after a couple of seconds the contents will open directly on your phone.

Nickie Lisella Become President of the Allendale Chamber of Commerce

Nickie Lisella was recently elected President to the Allendale Chamber of Commerce. Nickie is also the Broker/Manager at Terrie O’ Connor Realtors Allendale office. This new position means Nickie will be in charge of the gavel this year.

Not only will Nickie rein over the Allendale Chamber but she will also oversee events conducted with the new Allendale/Saddle River Rotary Club. This is the first time in Allendale history that someone has been selected president in both the Allendale Chamber of Commerce and the Allendale/Saddle River Rotary in the same given year.
